Ivalice.....
What about FF12, that also takes place in Ivalice, wouldn't that be a better choice for a standardized setting?

Well, there are a couple of reasons that I didn't choose the FFXII version of Ivalice. The main reason is that I havn't beaten it yet... Im only at the sky city that I know im gonna spell wrong if I try, and thus If I started a forum based on XII, I wouldn't know enough about the game to properly support it.
Second, the Ivalice of XII and the Ivalice of tactics are very different. While the Ivalice of Tactics Advance is united under one kingdom, while XII has the three kingdoms of Archadia, Rozarria, and Dalmasca, and has places different to the ones of Tactics Advance. The two Ivalices are almost like completely different places, and so I chose to make a forum about the FFTA one.

Actually the Ivalice in FFTA is just one kingdom in the much larger world that FF12 covers.
But beyond that point, I understand your reasoning behind this, and it works well enough for me.

Just so you guys know - The Ivalice of Tactics Advance is considered to be a dream version of Ivalice. Where as the Ivalice of FFXII, FFT, FFTA2, FFXII:RW and Vagrant Story are considered to be set in the "real' Ivalice.
In fact, while you DO get references to other Ivalice things(can't think of a better word, sorry) it not to the level you get in the other games.
i.e. - a NPC in FFXII mentions the city of Lea Monde(from Vagrant Story), the Story for FFTA2 is set in the Rozarrian Empire, FFT references an age "when airship filled the skies" prior to a cataclysm. FFXII:RW is a sequel set after FFXII, nuff said. Vagrant Story surrounds a cult, who's religion bears the same name "Kiltia" as the main religion of FFXII.
And that's just a few.

Using the small region of Ivalice from the game FFTA is a good idea because there is no reason to support a larger place because there isnt enough to rp on a world scale kingdom, but using just one kingdom makes it eaier and quicker to move around and RP
